Ursula Hegge is the embodiment of a singer-songwriter. With simple chord progressions, colourful melodies and delicate accompaniment, she really captures the essence of music being a "sweet little something". Apart from being a singer-songwriter since age 12, Hegge also plays the piano, guitar and the alto saxophone. She has performed as a student at music events hosted by York University, at Toronto's Fringe Festival in 2017 and in the Toronto Consort in 2014.
On "With You", Hegge explained,
"I saw my boyfriend wear this particular sweater for the first time, and it looks really cozy and made me think of Scotland, where I had travelled to during my gap year before attending York University. Later that night, we were talking about how much we would love to travel and just go everywhere together. That's what this song is about: just wanting to travel with that special someone to see a beautiful world."
Opening immediately with soft guitar finger-picking, "With You" creates a soft delicate vibe. As Hegge paints a picture of beautiful scenery in Scotland, "With You" takes us on a journey that we've all been longing for during the pandemic. By the end of “With You,” Hegge makes us realize that travelling isn't special because of the destination, it's special because of the person we're travelling with.
"The most essential part of the song is the desire for companionship and to see the world as beautiful, which I think has been really difficult for people lately.
