Enjoy chill vibes with Serra's bedroom pop track "Player's Club" [Premiere]

Serra's second single "Player's Club" is a bedroom pop anthem for females.

"You can put it on in your living room while you're getting ready or in the car, and it's always going to be a vibe to just hang out to," Sena Bodden said.

Bodden, a 19-year old singer and producer, created Serra, a fictional persona, with 27-year-old singer-songwriter Sydne Broady.

"Sarah was kind of a very random occurrence. We were just sitting in our living room and messing around with different names. We were trying to figure out a cool way to combine both of our names," Bodden said.

"We kind of wanted a character too, so it would be an actual person versus a band name," Broady said.

Bodden said "Player's Club" was inspired by an experience she had with a guy she'd known for a while, but could also extend to guys in general.

"It's sort of about the type of guy that's very superficial. They'll flash everything at you. But at the end of the day, they're just not as as cool as they think they are," Bodden said.

"I think most girls know a guy like this so I think it kind of resonates with a lot of the female population," said Broady.

Bodden and Broady said they initially met through a mutual friend in Dallas and instantly clicked. When Bodden announced she was moving to New York to study photography, Broady decided to tag along.

Although, the two started making music as a hobby at the beginning of the pandemic, they both quickly realized they wanted to take music more seriously.

"We had been kind of playing around with music together for a little bit. We made a demo for "Curious", an upcoming release of ours, and right after we heard it, we were both just like, 'Wow! We should think about doing this'", Bodden said.

The two said they experimented with many genres and realized that pop was the best fit for their brand.

"We can incorporate all of the other sounds that we both still love into pop as well," Bodden said.

Broady said the two are planning to release their next song "Space" on July 28 and "Curious" will be released in the next two weeks.

"Right now, we're currently working on a collaboration with Yuqui, an Ecuadorian rapper. We're working on a song with him called 'summer nites'", she said.

Bodden and Broady both said they plan on maintaining the organic approach they take to their music making.

"We do everything ourselves. We don't hire producers. We don't hire mix engineers. We don't hire mastering engineers. We do all of our own vocals. We mix everything and this is all coming out of our little apartment," Bodden said.

Although Bodden said she decided to change from studying photography to sociology, she creates all the artwork for their music.

Prior to choosing the name Serra, the two also considered the name "Kickbck" for their artist's brand. However, the two said they might use "Kickbck" as the name for their eventual label.
